ELEMENTARY - GRADES 2+3

This unit is designed to foster creativity, innovation, and collaboration through hands-on learning with the Group Maker Kit. Students will explore storytelling by designing characters and scenes, building models, and creating stop-motion animations that integrate basic STEAM concepts like circuits and motors. The activities promote teamwork, empathy, and communication, while also enhancing fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and narrative thinking. By encouraging original expression in a supportive environment, the unit helps students build confidence and develop both creative and technical skills.

  • Lesson 1: Creative Exploration & Model Building

    Students start by exploring the OffBits Maker Kit through guided, hands-on discovery. In small groups, they build unique models, fostering creativity, teamwork, and an introduction to engineering concepts.

  • Lesson 2: Storytelling & Character Development

    Next, students enter the OffBits world, building a character and reimagining its story and setting—encouraging creativity, storytelling, and teamwork.

  • Lesson 3: Storyboarding & Scene Planning

    With stories in place, students create short scenes and storyboards, turning ideas into visual narratives through creative writing and planning.

  • Lesson 4: Set Design & Rehearsals

    Students build sets and props, assign roles, and rehearse their animations—boosting spatial awareness, design thinking, and teamwork through hands-on creation.

  • Lesson 5: Stop-Motion Animation Production

    Students animate their stories frame by frame using the "Stop Motion Studio" app, blending digital skills with creativity. The unit concludes with a class screening, where students showcase their work.
